Bali is always the sanctuary for artists to get boundless inspirations and global influences. Some artists live in Bali and get inspired and few others drop by in Bali to get some artistic inspirations and to experiment. Expect unexpected colors, shapes and forms when you hunt for artworks in Bali. Sometimes you just cannot find them anywhere, but they are hidden somewhere; only through words of mouth you they can be discovered.

We begin 2013 with a very special auction of the estate of pioneering Indonesian fashion designer Peter Sie (Bogor 1929 – Jakarta 2011). At a young age of 17, he went to The Netherlands and studied at the Vakschool Voor Kleermaker & Coupeuse in The Hague from 1947 to 1953. Upon his return to Indonesia, he immediately started his fashion business, making dresses for Chinese-Indonesian ladies who lived around the Mangga Besar area of Jakarta, where he lived at the time.
In 1959, he held a fashion show at Hotel Des Indes in Jakarta. Meant to be part of fund raising event for a charitable cause, the show was a huge success and was attended by important personalities, including Indonesia’s First Lady, Fatmawati Soekarno. Following this first show, Sie’s career blossomed.

Upon closing the entries for this auction, I received emails of paintings from China and Vietnam. Check out the Chinese painting collections: Red Shadow in Guilin, The Chinese Opera Dancer, Treasure Hunt and Dragonfly on Cherry Blossom. These come from China for this auction. Look at the details of the paintings, they are quite interesting and easy to be matched with other modern items in the house. Our collections from Vietnam are appealing too; made of Vietnam lacquer: Woman From The North Vietnam and Red Trees Old Quarter Hanoi, which need special skills and attentions to make. Vietnam paintings are also associated with impression and scenery that are rich in colors and textures.

Welcome to Sidharta Auctioneer ArtFordable Auction. I feel time flies so fast this year as we are already approaching middle year of 2012. The first ArtFordable Auction this year offering 70 lots flew with flying colors, and now we are carrying colorful 104 artworks that have been carefully selected over more than 500 entries for this auction.
Colors turn out to have great impact on us. The study of colors and the impacts on our every day lives have generated discussions, experiments and applications in interior design, human mood, interaction and even believed to bring fortunes.
The enthusiasm and interest of many art connoisseurs in collecting Indonesian vintage furniture and decorative items, as emphasized in the success of Sidharta Auctioneer’s Javanese Antique Furniture and Folk Art Auction in February 2011, has led us to conduct an annual auction in Bali.
